Captcha SPAM Filters

Regrettably, there are a number of bothersome characters / enterprises that use the internet for questionable activity. One of those is submitting online forms with SPAM hoping that some unsuspecting web site owner will click on one of their submitted links (FYI: never do that!).

While there are no 100% guarantees on stopping this practice, we can setup a Captcha Filter on your site that will reduce this activity by as much as 99%.

What this does is force the user to enter several characters that are somewhat obscured, so that it actually takes a human being to key the letters into the box.

Why does this cut down on SPAM?

The answer is quite simple really: online form SPAM is not normally created by human beings, and no, it's not shadow people either. SPAM bots are little bits of code that scour the internet looking for online forms. It carries with them the ability to generate fake email addresses, fill-in blanks with nonsensical words, and most important, it fills in internet addresses where it hopes the receiver will check out to see what the heck this person was thinking. That's when they get you.

Some of these SPAM submissions will take you to a malicious web site address that will, without your permission, embed pieces of code into your browser that can do lots of nasty things. It also tells the creator of the SPAM, that they hit a live body and they will then direct more SPAM at you. In fact, if you click on just one of those bogus form submissions, in a few months, you could be receiving 100s of form submissions every day.

The CAPTCHA filter, at least for the time being, makes it impossible for software to read it correctly. And if those characters aren't entered into the box, nothing gets sent, NO SPAM! Most people have no problem reading the encyrpted letters.

Cost for installation of the CAPTCHA filter on your web site forms is a one-time fee of $45 and that includes all the forms on your web site. You might consider that expensive, but there's actually quite a bit of work in making the entire filter work as designed. It does not work on regular HTML forms, but requires PHP forms, which is an entirely different form of coding, as well as installing the software program on the server so the program works. The good thing is that once it's installed, there's no need to change it or modify the installation.
